forTANK is a think tank dedicated to the ‘art’ of forecasting, foresight and strategic planning. Aspiring primarily to inform academics, practitioners and policy makers, we aim to advance the process of:

a) preparing an accurate set of forecasts,

b) communicating the uncertainty around these forecasts, and

c) efficiently employing (a) and (b) so as to take informed decisions and act strategically.

forTANK is a network of experts coming from various disciplines that are here to provide insight on new forecasting methods, models and processes; issue reports, outlooks and working papers; run seminars, sandpits, workshops and conferences; develop new innovative tools and Forecasting Support Systems.

Forecast users: practitioners, policy makers, entrepreneurs, strategists, financiers, economists,...  all of them have to understand that there is no such thing as ‘a perfect forecast’! Each forecast comes with an anticipated error  - a proxy of the uncertainty around this forecast. Forecast users have to fully understand  this uncertainty, but more importantly act proactively and strategically in the sense that they take all those counter measures so as to cope with the consequences of this unavoidable uncertainty...
